A multiphase housing project on West Wayne Street is adding more rental options in South Bend.

The South Bend Heritage Foundation finished phase one in 2022 and is now building two-bedroom units in phase two, which are in high demand.

The project aims to fill gaps in affordable housing and revitalize neighborhoods. The city is helping reduce costs and streamline construction with pre-approved designs.

Phase three could break ground as early as spring 2026.
