A recent report from the Legislative Services Agency revealed that the median salary for full-time teachers in Indiana has decreased by 3% since 2020, with rural school teachers experiencing a 4-5% decrease.
State Reps. Ed DeLaney and Tonya Pfaff are advocating for an increase in teacher salaries, aiming to raise beginning teachers’ salaries to $55,000 a year.
Indiana lags behind neighboring states in average teacher salaries, with the state facing over 1,100 unfilled teaching positions.

Everyone whose salaries increased against inflation raise their hands. Let’s go Brandon.
It’s not like their salaries are being cut they just didn’t mention the inflation part our loud.
Now use the stock image with the rainbow flags and trans propaganda so people see what the classrooms are REALLY like. That makes it a bit harder for most of us to be concerned that the pay is magically decreasing for teachers. Is it really though, or are older teachers retiring and being replaced by young teachers with less earning power? Somehow I doubt there have been any actual pay cuts.
As far as the 1,100 unfilled positions, are we sure that is all salary related and not environment or unsupportive administrations? Undisciplined students and crappy bosses don’t attract talent.
