A South Bend teenager has been sentenced to 16 years for three separate shootings.

15-year-old Carter Dixon was sentenced in adult court but will remain in a juvenile facility for now.

After he turns 18, the Department of Corrections will review his progress and a judge will decide whether to move him to adult prison.

Dixon pleaded guilty to the Christmas Day 2023 shooting that injured a teen girl on E. Donald St. She was shot in the face and survived.

He also received five years each for two earlier gun-related incidents that happened in November 2023.
