An Elkhart man has been sentenced for his role in a violent 2019 robbery.

23-year-old Tyris Jennings of Elkhart has been sentenced to 27 years for his role in the robbery at a South Main Street KFC that left an employee paralyzed.

Jennings and accomplice Jordan Cole allegedly shot a 45-year-old worker during the holdup, then robbed a nearby Burger King. Cole was sentenced last year to 28 years.

In court, prosecutors said the victim is now paralyzed from the chest down.

The Goshen News says Jennings apologized, saying he thinks about the shooting every day.
