An Elkhart man accused of trying to ignite a gas station’s gasoline well is now considered competent to stand trial. 

33-year-old Abraham Villegas Jr. had his jury trial reset after doctors determined his competency was restored.

Villegas was arrested in June on multiple charges, including two Level 4 felony arson counts, after police say he was seen on Marathon Gas Station security video soaking trash with gasoline, setting it on fire and tossing it into a fuel well.

45 minutes later, a police vehicle was found burning in a city garage, with a propane tank nearby. The Goshen News says officers later arrested Villegas after a struggle.

His jury trial is scheduled for March 2.
