Berrien Springs Assistant Principal arrested for child seduction

The Vice Principal at Mars Elementary School in Berrien Springs, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for child seduction, was taken into custody following a traffic stop near the U.S. 20 Bypass and State Road 2 in St. Joseph County.

Officers with the St. Joseph County Police Department’s Warrants Team and Patrol Unit coordinated the stop, on Monday, Nov. 24, leading to the arrest of Scott Liggett. He was accused of sexual assault by a former student who became his adopted daughter.

Liggett previously worked as an academic dean at Mary Daly and Mary Feeser Elementary Schools in Elkhart.

Liggett has been placed on administrative leave by Berrien Springs Public Schools.
