Indiana authorities arrested a correctional officer for allegedly smuggling drugs to an inmate at Pendleton Correctional Facility.
Investigators say 38-year-old Ashley Smith had an inappropriate relationship with inmate Jaconiah Fields. A tip led staff to review Smith’s body-worn camera, which reportedly showed her discussing a drug “drop” with Fields.
Officers found a condom containing 59 grams of marijuana, 10 Suboxone strips hidden in a Kraft cheese container, and another small jar of marijuana in Fields’ unit.
Police say Smith later admitted to the relationship and to bringing drugs into the prison.
