Suspect airlifted after alleged attempted assault and police pursuit in Goshen

A 46-year-old man was airlifted with severe injuries after allegedly trying to run over another man and then leading police on a vehicle pursuit, according to Goshen Police.
Officers were dispatched just after 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, to the 700 block of South 11th Street on a report of criminal mischief. The 49-year-old caller told police the suspect attempted to strike him with a vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Police located the suspect a short time later, but he refused to stop, initiating a pursuit. The chase ended in the 59000 block of State Road 15 when the driver lost control and crashed, ejecting him from the vehicle.
He was airlifted to South Bend for treatment of severe injuries. Charges under review include criminal mischief, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, invasion of privacy, criminal recklessness with a vehicle, and reckless driving.
