The victim of Sunday evening’s fatal shooting on South Bend’s north side has been identified.
21-year-old Jacob Patchen of South Bend succumbed to his injuries after last night’s shooting at Michigan Street and Angela Boulevard.
His autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 13.
The preliminary investigation finds Patchen was driving eastbound on Angela when he was shot from outside his vehicle, just west of the intersection.
A juvenile relative was inside the car with Patchen, but was not injured.
The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating several possible motives and is actively following up on multiple leads.
Several vehicles were in the area at the time of the shooting… so there may be people who heard or saw something around 7:20 p.m. Sunday at Michigan and Angela. If you have any information, you’re encouraged to share your information anonymously by calling Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP or visiting p3tips.com/203.
