Woman injured after colliding with deer near U.S. 33

A Fort Wayne woman was evaluated by paramedics after striking a deer on U.S. 33 in Benton Township.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened just after 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, near the intersection of U.S. 33 and County Road 137.
Investigators say the vehicle, a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder, was headed northwest when a deer ran into the roadway from an open field.
The driver was unable to avoid the animal and collided with it.
The 30-year-old woman behind the wheel was wearing a seatbelt but reported head pain. She was treated at the scene.
