A LaPorte woman is in custody after allegedly resisting and fighting with a LaPorte County deputy during a traffic stop Tuesday night.

Deputies stopped a vehicle with one headlight and expired registration around 8:50 p.m. in the 1300 block of Pine Lake Avenue.

Police identified the driver, 43-year-old Laquintae Taborn of LaPorte, as a suspect in an earlier incident, giving them probable cause for arrest.

Officers say Taborn became loud and argumentative and showed signs of impairment. At a hospital, police report she refused to comply, then kicked a deputy in the chest and head.

Taborn faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges and remains in the LaPorte County Jail without bond.
