Turkey Creek Fire Territory employee in jail after alleged illegal hunting

A Turkey Creek Fire Territory employee landed in jail after hunting deer on private property without permission and resisting authorities.
Matthew Maher of Claypool faced multiple charges, including illegal hunting and resisting authorities. He was spotted chasing a deer in a field on County Road 300 South and later found in an off-road vehicle.
When asked to stop, Maher reportedly refused and later pushed an officer at his home.
He is being held on a $10,000 bond and has been placed on administrative leave while the situation is reviewed.
