Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on State Road 2.

According to the St. Joseph County Police Department, officers were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, to the westbound lanes of SR 2 near Pear Road. When officers arrived, they determined that one person had died as a result of the crash.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) was activated to conduct a full investigation into the incident.

As of Thursday night, the westbound lanes of SR 2 were closed between Pear and Quince roads. Traffic in the area was limited to one lane eastbound and drivers were being asked to avoid the area while investigators remain on scene.
