Two drivers were hospitalized following a head-on crash south of Wakarusa.

The collision happened around 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, at County Road 32 near County Road 11, about three-and-a-half miles south of Wakarusa city limits.

Police say a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 51-year-old South Bend man was traveling westbound on County Road 32 when the vehicle drifted left of center while cresting a hill. After crossing into the eastbound lane, the Suburban collided head-on with a 2003 GMC Sierra driven by a 41-year-old Goshen man.

Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage. Authorities say the Suburban caught fire following the crash.

Both drivers were transported to Elkhart General Hospital for further treatment.

Police say both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The South Bend man was cited for driving left of center resulting in bodily injury.
