A Mishawaka man pleaded guilty to auto theft in court last week.

58-year-old Paul Cady admitted to a Level 5 felony charge. In exchange for his plea, two misdemeanor theft charges will be dismissed.

According to court documents, police were alerted by the Flock camera system to a stolen vehicle around 10:10 p.m. on December 8 near Main and Prairie streets.

According to the Goshen News, officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Francis Avenue. Police say Cady told them he found the unlocked vehicle with keys inside at Belle Tire on Cassopolis Street and took it, saying he was homeless and wanted a warm place to drive.

His sentencing is set for March 26.
