Police say one person is dead after a crash in St. Joseph County.

It happened around 10:05 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, near Darden Road and State Road 933, close to the La Quinta Inn and Suites.

Authorities say a vehicle crashed into a utility pole and suffered major front-end damage.

The victim was the only person in the vehicle. Their name is expected to be released Friday after family members are notified.

Police say the area remained closed for a time while crews investigated the crash.
