(WSBT Storm Alert Team) A High Wind Watch is in effect from 5 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, March 13
Wind will be the story as we go from Thursday night to Friday.

On Friday, gusts could top 50 to 60 MPH! This strong enough for tree and power line damage across our region, likely some power outages.
The sustained southwest winds may be at 25-35 mph.

Driving big vehicles Friday may also be a problem.
The Saint Joseph County Fire Territory has some tips to keep you and your possessions safe.
- Secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, trash cans, decorations, and grills.
- Charge phones and electronic devices in case of power outages.
- Avoid parking vehicles under large trees if possible.
- Use caution while driving, especially in high-profile vehicles or on open roads.
- Stay alert for downed power lines and report them immediately. Never approach them.
Additionally, we will see light rain and snow showers but the wind is our biggest concern. Wind speeds start to calm down Friday night.
