A LaPorte man has died following a single-vehicle crash in rural Center Township.

Police say 50-year-old Jose Jenkins was driving south on U.S. 35 around 4:15 a.m. on Friday, March 13, when his vehicle left the roadway north of Stonehedge Way.

Investigators say the vehicle traveled along a grassy shoulder, hit a gravel surface, went airborne, and eventually came to rest.

Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman and three juveniles who were passengers in the vehicle were taken from the scene for treatment.

I live just north of this location. Accidents on this curve are frequent and sometimes fatal. The county needs to put a guardrail with reflectors and more adequate signage on this curve.
