Two South Bend residents arrested after high-speed chase in LaPorte County

Two South Bend residents were arrested after a high-speed chase in LaPorte County early Saturday morning.

Deputies say a vehicle was clocked speeding on U.S. 20 around 12:40 a.m. before the driver fled a traffic stop, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour.

The vehicle eventually left the roadway and struck a sign near County Road 500 East.

The driver and passenger ran from the crash, but deputies captured the 19-year-old passenger, Anttaniece Huey, after a short foot chase.

The driver, 28-year-old Kevin Reed, was later found about a half mile away with help from a drone. Deputies say Reed had shed his clothing while running and was wearing only underwear when taken into custody.

Both were taken to a hospital before being booked into the LaPorte County Jail.
