City council to decide on Microsoft data center expansions

Microsoft wants to expand its data centers in LaPorte, and the city council will decide in May.
Microsoft and city leaders held an open house Tuesday to show plans to grow beyond the site already under construction off Boyd Boulevard.
The expansion would cover nine pieces of land stretching toward Highway 35 South.
The company says the project would bring jobs and tax money, with part of that funding set aside for local schools.
Some people support it, but others have concerns about long-term impacts and say they don’t feel heard.
