One person was arrested after a brief police chase ended with a crash into a building on the city’s west side.

According to the South Bend Police Department, officers attempted to stop a vehicle around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, near Indiana Avenue and Main Street. The driver, identified as Joshua Carrillo, did not stop, leading officers on a short pursuit.

Police say the chase was eventually called off. A short time later, the vehicle was found after it had crashed into the Molding Products building at Indiana Avenue and Olive Street. Authorities reported no damage to the building.

Carrillo then fled on foot but was later taken into custody. He faces several preliminary charges related to the incident and was booked into the St. Joseph County Jail.
