A Goshen couple is facing neglect charges after police say they found unsafe and unsanitary conditions inside their trailer during a welfare check.
Court documents say officers found heavy animal waste, urine, and bugs covering the floors and furniture inside the home of Laura and Thomas Duncan.
Investigators also found more than 20 dogs and cats living in neglect, along with unsafe conditions for three children in the home.
In total, 26 animals were removed and taken to the Elkhart County Humane Society, which is now at capacity. One of the dogs was found dead.
