A Warsaw man is facing multiple felony charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a mentally and physically disabled adult.
Everett J. Compton, 57, has been charged with four counts of rape, all level 3 felonies, and one count of sexual battery, a level 6 felony.
According to court documents, the investigation began after Adult Protective Services requested a welfare check. The victim reported inappropriate touching and alleged that Compton engaged in sexual activity with them at a campground.
The victim told police they felt pressured to comply and said Compton warned their friendship could end if they disclosed the incident.
During an interview with police, Compton denied using force but acknowledged at least one encounter.
Another witness told investigators the victim likely lacked the capacity to consent due to a limited understanding.
Compton was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,000 preliminary bond.
