Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect or suspects involved in a series of armed robberies targeting food delivery drivers over a three-day span.
According to the Michigan City Police Department, officers were first called on April 28 at approximately 7:15 p.m. to the 100 block of Phillips Avenue, where a delivery driver reported being robbed at gunpoint. The suspect was described as a shorter Black male wearing eyeglasses and a gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt. Police say the suspect displayed a black firearm with an attached accessory and fled the scene on foot with a food order.
A second robbery was reported on April 29 at around 7:15 p.m. in the 600 block of East 10th Street. In that incident, a delivery driver told police they were robbed at gunpoint by a Black male with facial hair wearing a green hooded sweatshirt. The suspect again allegedly displayed a black firearm with an attachment and left the area on foot with food.
A third robbery occurred in the same area on April 30 at approximately 7:07 p.m. The victim reported being robbed at gunpoint by a Black male with facial hair wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black and white shoes, and eyeglasses. Police say the suspect displayed a similar black firearm and fled on foot with a food order.
Investigators are working to determine whether the incidents are connected. On Saturday, May 2, they announced that one person of interest was taken into custody.
