Kosciusko County residents warned of fraudulent mailers

The Kosciusko County Assessor’s Office is warning residents about mailers offering property tax appeal services that may appear to be official government notices.
Officials say the letters reference county appeal deadlines and property values, but are not affiliated with county government.
One mailing claimed a Warsaw homeowner’s property was over-assessed by nearly 90-thousand dollars and promoted possible tax savings through an appeal.
The Assessor’s Office says homeowners should be cautious before sharing personal information or signing agreements with third-party companies.
Residents with questions about their assessments are encouraged to contact the Assessor’s Office directly.
