Man sentenced in South Bend apartment shooting

A man involved in a 2025 South Bend apartment shooting has been sentenced to jail time.

Court records show Dontrell Jones received a two-year sentence after being convicted of unlawful carrying of a handgun by a convicted felon.

The shooting happened at Jefferson Apartments on Rue Flambeau Street in October of last year and left one person injured.

Jones has already received credit for more than 200 days served, leaving about 518 days remaining on his sentence. Several other charges tied to the shooting were dismissed.
