A woman is recovering after a shooting at Beacon Heights Apartments in South Bend.

According to the South Bend Police Department, officers responded just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, to the 3700 block of Curtiss Drive for reports of a shooting.

When police arrived, they found a woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital with injuries that police say are not considered life-threatening.

A man was taken into custody following an investigation by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit.

As of late Tuesday evening, authorities had not released the suspect’s identity.
