A jury trial has been delayed for an Elkhart woman accused of causing a deadly motorcycle crash while driving under the influence.

30-year-old Angelina Rosa Amelia Valente faces charges connected to a July 2024 crash near County Roads 20 and 111 that killed 55-year-old Franklin Herrington.

Investigators say Valente, who was driving for Uber at the time, attempted to turn around after losing GPS service and pulled into the path of Herrington’s motorcycle.

According to The Goshen News, police said Valente admitted using marijuana before the crash.

Her trial was moved from June to Sept. 21, with another court hearing scheduled in August.
