Motorists traveling between North Liberty and South Bend should prepare for delays beginning Monday as the Indiana Department of Transportation starts a major repair project on State Road 23.
The work will cover nearly 11 miles of roadway and is expected to last about 10 days. The project includes replacing six drainage pipes between New Road and Kern Road, as well as additional repairs between U.S. 31 and Ireland Road.
After those improvements are completed, crews will begin resurfacing the entire stretch of State Road 23 between North Liberty and South Bend.
INDOT officials say the resurfacing work is expected to continue through late November.
During the closures, drivers are encouraged to use State Road 4 and U.S. 31 as alternate routes.
