An Elkhart County man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to child molestation charges involving two young victims.

Israel De La Cruz Torres was originally charged with multiple felony counts stemming from allegations involving children ages 5 and 11.

During sentencing, he apologized for his actions and asked the court for leniency, saying his time in jail had given him an opportunity to reflect.

The judge ordered two consecutive 11-year prison terms, totaling 22 years, with no probation included in the sentence.

The Goshen News says the judge cited concerns surrounding his immigration status.
