South Bend woman dies days after Facebook Marketplace robbery shooting

A South Bend woman has died days after being shot while trying to protect her son during a Facebook Marketplace robbery.
Forty-year-old Jean Gragg died from her injuries after being shot in the head June 10 outside her home on Mac Arthur Avenue.
Police say Gragg stepped between her son and an armed robbery suspect during a meeting to sell a watch through Facebook Marketplace.
Investigators say 18-year-old John Harrison Ford pulled a gun and tried to steal the watch before opening fire.
Following Gragg’s death, prosecutors upgraded the charges against Ford. He now faces murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery charges.
Ford remains held in the St. Joseph County Jail.
