An Elkhart County woman is accused of injuring a child after police say she drove away while the boy was getting out of her vehicle.
Investigators say the incident happened Tuesday afternoon at a convenience store on County Road 17. Deputies report an 8-year-old suffered scrapes and road rash after being dragged alongside the vehicle.
Authorities allege 28-year-old Shayna Jones sped away as the child was exiting the car. Surveillance video reportedly showed the boy being pulled several feet before falling to the pavement.
Jones later returned to the scene and told investigators she did not know the child had gotten out before she drove off. She now faces a felony criminal recklessness charge.
