Families can ride the South Shore Line for less this summer.

The South Shore Line is expanding its Kids Ride Free program to all trains June 29 through July 3.

Normally, up to three children ages 13 and under ride free with a paying adult on weekday off-peak, weekend, and holiday trains.

During the promotion, the offer applies to every train.

South Shore officials say the goal is to help families enjoy affordable summer trips to destinations including Chicago, the Indiana Dunes, and South Bend.
