SNAP changes could impact school meals

Federal changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, and Medicaid could affect which Indiana schools qualify to provide free meals to all students.
Schools with at least 25 percent of students enrolled in programs like SNAP can offer free breakfast and lunch without requiring families to apply.
If schools lose that eligibility, parents would have to submit income applications, and some families could end up paying for school meals.
