The Window is delaying its planned reopening as the Goshen nonprofit works to secure additional funding needed for long-term financial stability.

The organization had hoped to resume full operations by late July after announcing a temporary stabilization period earlier this summer. However, leaders now say they need approximately $300,000 in operating support before reopening.

Despite the delay, community support has been strong. The Window has raised more than $130,000 in donations from churches, businesses, foundations, volunteers and individual donors over the past several weeks.

Board Chair Erica Bailey said the organization has developed a plan to ensure its long-term success and believes taking additional time now will help prevent future service disruptions.

Interim Executive Director Josh Varab said reopening before the nonprofit is financially stable would put its mission at risk. He thanked the community for its continued support, noting that The Window serves more than 1,500 families each month through its programs.

While full operations remain on hold, several services continue. The Window’s food pantry remains open on Thursdays, Meals on Wheels continues daily, and mail services are still available. Partner organizations, including the Salvation Army of Goshen, First Light Mission and Indiana 211, are also helping provide food, clothing and other assistance during the transition.

The nonprofit is continuing its fundraising campaign and is asking the community for financial support, volunteers and prayers as it works toward reopening.
