LaPorte County residents speak out against proposed wheel tax

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

LaPorte County residents are speaking out against a proposed countywide wheel tax. The plan would charge $25 a year for passenger vehicles and $15 for motorcycles.

People already paying a wheel tax in a city would be exempt.

County Council President Adam Koronka says the tax would give the county more money for road work and help bring in additional state funding.

Residents say they want the county to find another way to pay for road improvements without raising their costs.
