One person was killed in a house fire near Claypool.

Crews from the Burket/Seward Fire Department were called to the home in the 8600 block of South Valentine Road, near Yellow Creek Lake, around 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 25.

The victim’s body was removed from the home and taken to the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center for a formal autopsy, according to the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

A dental comparison may be completed before authorities are able to identify the name of the victim.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
