It’s going to be a lot quicker to ride the South Shore Line in the future, but for the present, the operators would like to hear from its passengers first.

A public workshop session about the Double Track Northwest Indiana Project will take place from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 at Michigan City Hall in Michigan City, according to our reporting partners at ABC 57.

The Double Track Northwest Indiana Project will enable trains to run more often for passengers and get them to and from quicker. Five platforms will also be improved.

In turn, officials believe the economy between Hammond and South Bend will improve because of quicker travel times.
