The man who allegedly shot and killed his son after a dispute at a home on Fillmore Road last week has been officially charged with murder.

Christopher Fulce Sr., 47, remains held without bond at St. Joseph County Jail following the murder charge, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Christopher Fulce Sr. is accused of shooting and killing his son, 19-year-old Charlin Fulce, Thursday afternoon. Fulce later died at a local hospital.

The fight stems from an argument about the adoption of a child, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Christopher reportedly wanted to adopt a child, but Charlin insisted on trying to find the child’s natural father. Christopher had been raising the child for some time, according to court documents.

Police say the disagreement turned into a fight, with the two throwing a child’s riding toy at one another and Charlin throwing a punch at his father’s chest, according to court documents.

A witness says that Christopher said “The day you hit me is the day you’re gonna (sic) die.” He then went upstairs, got a .22 caliber rifle, and started firing at Charlin’s car as he was trying to drive away, according to police.

One of the bullets hit Charlin before the car crashed into a tree, according to court documents.
