A local man and a few good residents and businesses in the Walkerton area are lending a helping hand to Gatlinburg fire victims.

Roger LaBere works for OmniSource, who is helping him collect donations Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The semi-trailer is parked at the Falcon Dipper at 1120 Roosevelt Rd. in Walkerton. It’ll be there from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday.

You’re being asked to donate bottled water, Gatorade, Powerade, protein bars, unopened over-the-counter painkillers, lip balm, eye drops, toiletries, food, baby food and other baby items, jackets or coats, scarves, gloves, socks, pet care supplies, and boxes to carry it all.

Volunteers are also being sought to help load the semi-trailer, which is being donated by OmniSource, along with a driver.
