Grand Junction woman dies after train hits car

A crash involving a train and a car killed a woman and injured a passenger in Van Buren County Wednesday afternoon.

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office sent deputies to the scene just before 4 p.m. Wednesday at 16th Ave. west of C.R. 215, according to ABC 57.

Deputies believe 47-year-old Tiffany Glidden failed to yield at the sign before crossing the tracks. The train struck the driver’s door and knocked the vehicle into a ditch 50 yards away.

Glidden was pronounced dead at the scene. A 14 year-old male passenger in the backseat was extracated with the jaws of life. He’s listed in critical condition at Bronson in Kalamazoo after being taken to a South Haven hospital.
