Warsaw’s “alley activation” crowdfunding project meets goal

Warsaw’s downtown will be getting an “alley activation” thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Patronicity. Over 130 community members have donated to reach the $50,000 goal. The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) will match that amount for a total of $100,000 to be spent on the project.

The city aims to expand on development already happening downtown by changing the alley off Buffalo Street from a pass-through for vehicles to a space for people to gather. Public Wi-Fi, greenery, and artwork, along with seating, will all be elements in what the city is calling the “activation” of the alley.

City officials say they appreciate the outpouring of support from the community. They say the project could move forward as early as July.
