A South Bend business owner is in trouble with the law after investigators say he sold fake merchandise to an excise police officer.

The transactions took place last summer at the O-C Mini Mart on Olive Street. ABC-57 News reports the officer made three separate trips to the store and purchased phony Nike shoes, a phony NFL Chicago Bears hat and a phony Nike Jordan hat.

Excise Police had a search warrant to search the store last summer. Officers reportedly seized 500 items as counterfeit including 98 Ralph Lauren shirts, 23 NFL hats, 7 pairs of Ray Ban sunglasses, 100 pairs of Nike Jordan’s and 9 pairs of AirMax shoes.

Mohammad Emran Bepary was charged last week with three counts of counterfeiting.
