Warsaw kayaker dies days after falling into Eel River

A Warsaw kayaker that fell into the Eel River in Whitley County Sunday has died.

That according to the Times-Union, who reports that 31-year-old Richard Wilson had been hospitalized at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne ever since.

Wilson fell into the river just before noon Sunday after trying to cross over the Collamer Low Head Dam.

A 25-year-old Syracuse man then tried to save Wilson, but he was also pulled into the river’s current.

Another rescuer was able to bring both men to shore and performed CPR. They were then transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center.
