A 10-year-old girl is continuing to recover after she was hit by a car while riding a bicycle Thursday.

The Goshen Police Department says the girl and her father were riding past a parking lot in the 300 block of South Main St. shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday. A car tried to pull out of the parking lot, so the father reportedly told the girl to stop.

The car stopped, and the father thought the driver was allowing them to cross. Instead, the car pulled forward and hit the girl as she tried to ride by on her bicycle.

The driver, a 60-year-old woman Goshen, reportedly told police her eyes were watery because she had been crying after a funeral, according to the Elkhart Truth. She wasn’t given a ticket.

The girl complained of leg pain and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
