PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a law enforcement officer shot and wounded a man during an undercover drug sting in southwestern Michigan.

The St. Joseph County prosecutor’s office says the shooting happened Wednesday night in the parking lot of a John Deere dealership in Park Township.

The St. Joseph County Area Narcotics Unit had set up an undercover methamphetamine purchase with an officer in an unmarked car. The prosecutor’s office says a vehicle arrived for the transaction but kept going when the officer identified himself as an officer.

Other police vehicles tried to stop the vehicle and it hit the unmarked car and drove at the officer. The officer fired, hitting the driver in the shoulder. The man was treated for what were described as minor injuries and jailed. Another man was arrested.
