A Wisconsin man died after a crash on I-94 Friday morning that involved two semis.

The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. Friday at the U.S. 20/U.S. 35 exit in LaPorte.

A trailer detached from an Ohio man’s semi, which had just entered the westbound lanes of I-94 from the ramp. The trailer was loaded with wood flooring and general freight.

It came to a rest in the outer shoulder, but the left rear was partially on I-94 and was hit by a Volvo semi. The trailer on that semi rolled over, but the wood flooring from the first trailer became spread all over the road.

The driver of the Volvo, 53-year-old David Sturgis of Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
