A national publication feels America can learn a thing or two from Elkhart’s economy.

The Wall Street Journal profiled Elkhart’s RV industry Friday with the headline “The Future of America’s Economy Looks a Lot Like Elkhart, Indiana.”

The article, which lies behind the website’s paywall, details how high school students often skip college and take high-paying factory jobs instead and how car dealers can’t keep new pickups on the lot.

It also highlights how there’s about 9,500 jobs that remain unfilled and that the Elkhart-Goshen area has the highest concentration of workers employed in manufacturing in the country at 47-percent.
