The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department has a new tool to make needle disposal safer.

Sheriff Rocky Goshert says he implemented the use of a needle grinder after seeing an increase in hypodermic needles being disposed.

A press release from the department says the increase in disposals is because of criminal cases, jail medical use, and the medication disposal program they participate in.

With a needle grinder in use, they can continue to meet the increased need for needle disposal while making sure they are discarded safely.
