Cass County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash Wednesday night that saw one driver leave the scene.

It happened shortly after 7:30 PM on US-12 near Conrad Road in Milton Township. Officials believe one vehicle rear-ended the other, leaving a 47 year-old Niles man uninjured.

Police say the 26 year-old driver of the other vehicle, also from Niles, left the scene when the police arrived. He was arrested a short time later after crashing again on Dailey Road near Jefferson Center Road.

He was treated for injuries at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, and it’s not known if either driver was wearing seat belts.
